April 2015 – The Beaufort Street Network

Adopt a Tree or Space around Beaufort Street

The Beaufort Street Network and City of Vincent are encouraging all residents, businesses and community groups to adopt a tree or public space.

We want a greener, safer and more comfortable street. But we all need to help out where we can and when we can.

Eh? Isn’t that the Council’s Job?

Really? Public spaces belong to all of us. But while many people love to take care of their own gardens, we all leave caring for public spaces to “someone else”. So our public spaces can look a bit unloved.

What Can I Do?

  • Find a tree or space that needs some love
  • Plants some flowers or plants
  • Water the tree or plants
  • Remove weeds and litter
  • Report any issues

What’s In It For Me?

There are some great benefits for getting involved:

  • It is an easy way to get involved in the community
  • Meet new people
  • Improve your gardening skills
  • Earn the appreciation of your neighbours
  • Choose where and how you want to get involved

The City of Vincent is also seeking volunteers for its ‘Adopt A Verge’ program.

Keeping our streets and verges green and healthy fosters biodiversity within our community and helps to establish greenways – this is all part of the City’s extensive Greening Plan.

Anyone in the Vincent community can register as a tree adopter!

Each adopted tree will be identified and registered, and the City can support adopters by providing advice, resources and physical assistance when necessary.

Tell Us What You Think!

There are two easy ways to get involved.

1. Complete the Beaufort Street Survey

Complete the online survey below and you will not only be helping the Network, but you’ll be in with a chance to WIN A SPECIAL DINNER FOR TWO PEOPLE at Montefiore Cafe Restaurant including starters, main courses and tea/coffee.

Complete the Beaufort Street Survey 2015 here

The survey finishes on Sunday 31 May 2020, so grab a drink and don’t miss out on telling us your thoughts.

2. Come with us on a Walking Workshop of Beaufort Street

When: 6pm to 7pm, Wednesday 6 May 2020

Where: Meet outside Action Real Estate (next to NAB Bank), 678 Beaufort Street, Mt Lawley

We’ll be walking down to the laneway between St Michael’s and Orno Interiors (opposite Beaufort St Merchant) with stops outside IGA Supermarket and Caffissimo. Not too far!

Cost: Completely free

RSVP: It would be helpful if you could let us know you are coming. Email us at hello@beaufortstreet.com.au

Why: We’ll explain what we are doing to create a better Beaufort Street. And we want to hear from you! You’ll also get to meet other local people passionate about improving Beaufort Street.

We have received some fantastic feedback at previous workshops. This is a chance to get out on the street and discuss the challenges and opportunities.

Beaufort St Art Market Brightens Up Easter

The popular Beaufort Street Art Market was back on Easter Sunday. Not surprisingly, we had an Easter theme and there was plenty of free chocolate courtesy of the sweet teeth at the Network.

The kids activities provided by Arty Brellas and buskers were also fun. There will be more things for families and kids at future markets. Here are some pics from the day.

See more pictures and keep up with all the Art Market news at www.facebook.com/BeaufortStreetArtMarket.
