“Sioux’s work explores the rapidly shifting, stimulating environment in which we live”
Originally from England, Sioux Tempestt has called Perth home for many years. Sioux works predominantly with acrylic paint as well as aerosol, watercolour, and ink, in addition to producing art digitally having a degree in graphic design
Sioux runs UnchARTed Collective in Mount Lawley, which showcases works by 40 Australian artisans. Among other artistic achievements including three successful solo exhibitions, she was a finalist in the Black Swan Heritage Prize 2014 and 2013.
Her work explores the rapidly shifting, stimulating environment in which we live. Drawing upon personal experience she seeks to contextualise the changing environment, how we react and our reconstructions of it.
“I am exploring consumerism and the inherent complexities of how we engage and interact with one another through changing technologies. The aim of my work is to engage the viewer, convey a narrative and prompt a thought process.”
Sioux’s work is held in public and private collections in Australia and overseas.
